Jim Burke is Vistra’s president and chief executive officer and serves on its board of directors. Vistra is a Fortune 500 competitive power generation and retail electricity company headquartered in Irving, Texas, with operations across the United States. Burke has been with Vistra and its predecessor companies since 2004 in senior leadership positions including chief financial officer, chief operating officer, and head of its retail division, TXU Energy.
Burke has worked in the competitive electric sector since 2000, including senior leadership roles at Gexa Energy and Reliant Energy. Before entering the energy industry, Burke worked at The Coca-Cola Company, within its Minute Maid division, and started his career with Deloitte & Touche Consulting.
Beyond Vistra, Burke plays an active role in advancing the U.S. energy industry and supporting community organizations. He chairs the Electric Power Supply Association, serves as vice-chairman of the Nuclear Energy Institute’s board, serves on the board of the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations, and is a member of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas’ Energy Advisory Council. He also serves on the boards of the United Way Foundation of Metropolitan Dallas and the Tulane University Energy Institute.
Burke holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and an MBA in finance and general management from Tulane University.
